In which we honor more notable photographers...

Back in his first incarnation, the M.A.L.ady made a point of not only putting up a site attacking Marc Adamus, but also secondary sites attacking those he/she/it deemed friends or supporters of Adamus. (Although I was chagrined to note that there never was a "Tarzan Wilcox Lies" site.) So, it shouldn't be too surprising that "M.A.L.ady 2.0" is up to his/her/its old tricks again, this time concentrating his/her/its insane rants in a one-size-fits-all site attacking "Loser Photographers." While I won't stoop to recognize the psychotic clown by giving a link to the site, I will say that the ravings there are even more lunatic than ever, including the utterly bizarre notion that anyone who photographs a scene from the same location as a previous photographer is a "thief" guilty of "copyright violation" (it would be, uh, interesting to see the M.A.L.ady try to get that interpretation past a judge), and has even gone so far as to mount a campaign to get one such photographer fired from his job as an airline pilot for taking photos from the same locations as other photographers...including Marc Adamus himself! Personally, I would have loved to be a fly on the wall at the airline when they received the letter demanding they fire one of their pilots for taking landscape photographs on his days off, but I digress...

In any event, one of the nice things about the M.A.L.ady deciding to launch another one of his/her/its scattershot attacks is that it gives me a chance to add new names to the "M.A.L.L. Honor Roll" of photographers whose work is better than that of the M.A.L.ady. Accordingly, there is now a "baker's dozen" of new photographers added to the list. Check out some of their links and be prepared to be amazed at some utterly stunning imagery. And, when you contrast it with the continued total absence of even a single photo ever posted by the M.A.L.ady, you have to ask yourself, "just who is the 'loser photographer' here, anyway?"

P.S.: Maybe the M.A.L.ady wanted to forestall posts such as these, because, in his/her/its later rants, you find they didn't name their "loser photographers" at all, simply putting up "candid" shots of ridiculous-enough-looking photographers (seen from behind or far enough away to be unidentifiable, presumably in order to avoid those pesky libel suits) and asserting, without any evidence whatsoever, that they were pro-Adamus "thugs and morons." Curious how you can conclude that about a person just because you deem them to be unattractive, M.A.L.ady. (By the way, why don't you show us your portrait, so we can decide whether you're worthy of being made fun of, too?) But there's one thing that's probably a safe bet...that each and every one of the "funny-looking" photographers can take better pictures than the M.A.L.ady as well.

Dear M.A.L.ady: Prepare to get "the vapors" again...

I just picked up the (highly-recommended) latest issue of Outdoor Photography, which contains a cover story on Marc Adamus and the art of winter photography. (I should note that the excellent cover photo is by Mark Schneider, not Adamus himself, but the article itself contains several of Adamus' fine winter images.) Yes, another major media source is bringing Adamus' work to the public attention.

Of course, we know your response already: That OP is "a joke," just like everyone else who has featured Adamus's works. (Just so everyone remembers, that list already includes National Geographic, Popular Photography, and others too numerous to mention.) But maybe the M.A.L.ady is right -- maybe he/she/it has had his/her/its photos displayed in publications that put National Geographic et. al. to shame. Right? Right? Anyone? Bueller?

The Scum Also Rises

When I put this blog on hiatus back at the end of 2009, I thought it was the end of the lunacy from the M.A.L.ady. Imagine my surprise to find out this evening that he crawled out from under his rock (not to mention his parents' basement...maybe he finally finished watching his Buffy the Vampire Slayer set for the tenth time?) last December, beginning a "2.0" version of the same old same old, complete with the same substance-free mudslinging, the same attacks on anyone who dares -- gasp! -- like Marc Adamus' photos, and, of course, the same refusal to show even a frame of his own work.

Well, if the M.A.L.ady is back again, so am I!

Frankly, I haven't had the time to do more than skim a handful of his rants, but I think it's worth pointing out several things that amuse me no end:
  • The 2.0 blog has been up for almost a year, but this is the first time I ever heard of it, despite being on many photography and photographic industry venues on a daily basis. I'd say this speaks volumes about the impact the psychotic clown has had this time around -- in other words, even less than before. But, then again, sequels rarely live up to the original.
  • Also, M.A.L.ady promised a new "MarcAdamusLies.net" website to accompany his blog. Well, it appears that new website has come...and gone. Now, it only leads to a CenturyLink "landing page." Whether this is because CenturyLink disconnected him (telephone company humor there) after seeing the contents of his site, or if his parents cut off his hosting allowance once again, remains to be seen.
  • Finally, the funniest thing I've seen so far is the M.A.L.ady's claim that he is, in fact, a completely different person who "rescued" the venture after the "original owner" backed out (due to fears of being murdered by an Adamus supporter...I kid you not!). Strangely enough, this "new" owner just happens to write with the exact same style, cliches, and invective as M.A.L.ady 1.0. Meet the new clown, same as the old clown... (Incidentally, this was the final confirmation for me that it isn't a matter of "M.A.L.adies" but of "M.A.L.ady," since everything is written in the same voice, even when trying to convince people he's a different individual.)
